Objective: Collect sets of 4, 5, or 6 adjacent cards of the same color. But beware, the Patchwork cards are double-sided and if an opponent sees a set on the backs of your cards, they can take them! Whoever has the most cards collected wins.
Game play:
Your goal is to collect sets of 4, 5,
or 6 adjacent cards with the same
color. You cannot look at the backs of the cards in your card holder.
Each turn you take 2 actions, which can be one of these things:
- Flip: You can flip a card around in any holder (yours or your opponent’s), so the outside becomes the inside.
- Swap: You can switch the positions of 2 cards in any holder.
- Trade 1 card: You can trade one card with another player. When you trade, the cards don’t flip, so you get the color you see.
- Trade 2 cards: You can trade 2 adjacent, same-colored cards with another player getting 2 adjacent, same-colored cards from them. Like trading 1 card, what you see is what you get - the cards don’t flip.
- Collect a set from your holder: If you have 4, 5, or 6 adjacent cards of the same color in your holder, you can lay those down (showing everyone you have a set) and keep all of them.
- Collect a set from your opponent’s holder: If you see 4, 5, or 6 adjacent, same-colored cards on the backs of another player’s cards, you can lay down their cards. In this case you give 1 card to the player whose cards you took and collect the rest.
Whenever a player has less than 6 cards, they draw back up to 6 immediately (before any other actions are taken). Drawing cards is not an action.
Game end: The game ends as soon as any
player cannot draw enough cards to fill their holder back up to 6 cards. Important:
When the game ends, any player that has a set in their own holder can collect
it. Whoever has the most cards wins! If there is a tie, whoever has the most of
any 1 color wins.
